E.E. Cummings confusing but brilliant poem

This poem was very confusing to me. I figured out if you put the letters together it sounds like "the leaf falls, loneliness." This poem effects one of our senses which is the eye. It seems like the poet sees a leaf fall and is isolated away from nature. When a leaf falls from a tree it dies with other leafs but in this case this leaf falls alone. It is strange that Cummings write the poem in that format. The format of the words looks like a tree. The format of this poem gives the reader a visual of how the leaf falls in a zig zag.

The imagery also gives the reader an idea about gradually falling apart from society and turning into a new person. A tree's leaves grow and have the same color and once winter hits a leaf falls one at a time. New life on the tree is reborn when spring comes. The poems imagery makes the reader think about dying a lonesome death and also growing apart from what you have learned.
